Do you want to learn to run? Coming back from injury or just trying to improve overall fitness?
Our 8 week C25K training programme will give you the plan you need to run 5km without stopping culminating in a fun race on 26th March 2024.
When is it?
We have a new intake starting Tuesday 6th February 2024 at 6:30pm and sessions start at Chartham Village Hall, Station Road, Chartham, CT4 7JA.
For more information visit the Facebook page, join our whatsapp group, or email hello@stourstriders.co.uk. Please complete the forms on this page too before attending.
What’s involved?
Couch to 5K works because it starts with a mix of running and walking to gradually build up your fitness and stamina.
Week 1 involves running for just a minute at a time, creating realistic expectations and making the challenge feel achievable right from the start.
Already able to run 5km?
Already able to run 5km but want to increase your distances? We’ll also be running a 5km-10km Development Plan alongside the Couch to 5k sessions so please follow the same advice and dates.
Does it cost anything?
No, it’s free, as are our regular running sessions on Tuesdays. Great stuff eh?
What to wear
You don’t need much just some comfortable loose clothing and some trainers. If you keep running regularly after completing Couch to 5k then you can think about buying specialist clothing.
Now that it’s getting dark in the evenings there is one thing you will need and that’s a head torch. You can pick up a simple one on Amazon for less than £10. Some runners opt for a chest torch instead which puts a bright light on the front and a red light on the back to improve visibility, but it’s not essential.
