The Ashford Givaudan 10km took place on Sunday 13th October and Stour Striders were out in force, both taking part as well as volunteering for the race organisers Sporting Events UK who put on another great event.
It wasn’t just having so many of the club taking part that made for a memorable event, but also the fact that this is one of the few fully road-closed events in Kent, with a route through Ashford’s residential streets allowing for spectators and supporters to cheers on runners and provide that big race day atmosphere.

The course is considered relatively flat with minimal elevation, but ‘undulates’ for the majority, so having that crowd support really helps, as did the perfect running weather.
Arriving back at the Julie Rose Stadium provided a treat with runners using the last of their energy reserves to sprint around the athletics track and cross the finish line to the applause of spectators and fellow participants.
Well done to all the Stour Striders who took part along with the 700+ other runners. Full results of the event can be found here.
